Bedson Timbers have recently opened a new division specialising in the supply of boards. The product line at present is Plywood, MDF and chipboard in various thicknesses, ranging from 3 to 18mm, with new products being evaluated and added on a regular basis. We are the agents in South Africa for the Weyerhaueser Lumin range of ply and shutterboards, and are very proud to be linked to one of the world's largest timber producers who are particularly eco-friendly. Over and above this, we stock imported MDF boards in 6' x 9' sizes (16/12/9mm) and 4' x 8' in the 3mm thickness. We also stock 16mm Chipboard in the 6'x9' dimension, and can supply all these boards at very reasonable prices and with minimal delay. Bedson Timbers carries large volumes of stock in these boards, thereby allowing you to draw stock whenever you require it, allowing you to let us do the warehousing function for you. MDF=Medium density fibreboard, made from very finely shredded wood which is then mixed with a bonding agent (glue) and compressed to form a solid board. Very easy to work with and can be moulded and painted.
Plywood= a number of solid veneers(always an odd number), arranged in layers with each subsequent layer being at right angles to the neighbouring layers to increase the stability of the boards.
Shutterply= Plywood produced mainly for shuttering of concrete in construction, has a minimum strength that is high to aid in the solid construction needed to contain poured concrete or withstand high loads.
Chipboard= Material made in rigid sheets from compressed wood chips and resin, often coated or veneered, used in furniture, buildings, etc.
